Founded 1971 as Private Chin-yi Junior College of Industry and Technology. Renamed into Private Chin-yi Junior College of Industry 1973. Acquired public status 1987. Renamed as National Chin-yi Junior College of Industry and Commercestatus and title 1992. Upgraded into National Chin-yi Institute of Technology 1999. Acquired current status and title 2007.
