Founded 1946 by Act of Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia. The original function of the University, research and research training, now carried out by the Institute of Advanced Studies. The Faculties provide teaching and undertake research training at all levels. Merged with Canberra University College 1960 and with the Institute of the Arts in 1992.
